![]() In the case of Fire Stone, for example, the effective translation of the original '紅蓮石' is 'Red Flaming Stone'. ![]() That doesn't mean that every Kanji shouldn't to be translated singularly, simply at times this could be redundant. ![]() Simply I think that japanese uses 2 or 3 Kanji at time because hasn't a specific way to call some objects like in western languages, so it has to mix different words to individuate one meaning. I'll make a consideration about this funny replacement process. Word substitutions for every item come from botanic and geological sites and generally from all the web when possible the original name has been included in the description for an easy recall. The reason of all this work was simply the lack of sufficient space in the game needed for every word replacement: words have only a preset number of characters available between them, so, since I wasn't able to find the pointers for every word to increase the original length, I decided to change them in a different way, avoiding horrific and gibberish abbreviations. Some armors and weapons were renamed too, but not eliminating all the abbreviations used in this game. If you guys could help me to uncover this, we could put an easily accessible download link right here so anyone could access the patch in the future.A simple explaination of what I mean for alternative: you may look at it like a different way to call things without changing their use or meaning. I'm turning to reddit for this because I'm simply not connected enough in the monster hunter community to know where and who to ask who might know more or have a copy of this old translation. At the very least a version of it was posted though the link is long since dead. ![]() I'm going to compile all the information I could gather about it, in hopes that some people will help me to make it accessible to everyone again.Ībout 2 years ago there was someone interested in finding it, he posted here on reddit.Īpprently it was made by someone named "vicousshadow" and it was posted on old minegarde forums that went down.Īlso worth mentioning that there was an effort made to translate it on GBATemp as well.Īpparently the creator had made an improved version of his translation and it never got to see the light of day from what i can see. I'm confident it must still exist somewhere out there though. I've been doing a lot of research into this and apparently there was a functional english patch to the wii version of Monster Hunter G that has been somehow lost to time. ![]()
